We are a wholefoods store specialising in organic, specialty & bulk products.

We love good food. To us, good food means healthy, sustainable, local & delicious. It means ingredient lists that aren’t a mile long, with words we don’t know the meaning of. It means sourcing suppliers who are passionate about making products that align with our ethos, from local producers where possible. A healthy diet promotes healthy people, and if the people are healthy the community will thrive. We love the Coast, and the lifestyle it supports, we’re here to make sure you’ve got access to the right food to go along with it.

Our store offers a wide selection of bulk foods, including flours & grains, peas & beans, lentils & dahls, herbs & spices, tea & coffee, dried fruits & nuts. Our organic section covers all your pantry essentials, including free farmed NZ meat, local milk n freshly baked sourdough bread. We cover specialty diets such as diabetes, gluten free, vegan options, and have a range of imported foods spanning the Mediterranean, Asia & Holland. Our delicatessen is stocked full of Dutch cheese & locally made condiments.

Why the name?

We have called ourselves Westland Wholefoods as a pointer to the days of Provincial Government in New Zealand. Until 1876 legislative authority sat with the Westland Provincial Council which covered the area from the Grey and Arnold Rivers south to Martins Bay. Returning to a system of provincial government is a goal worth advocating for. More local control will make the time and cost of compliance a whole lot less burdensome for local business people and aspiring do it yourselfers. What country employs this system of government? The world’s most prosperous- Switzerland of course!
